Wisedāna Foundation acts upon the fundamental principle of interconnection between all living beings, in line with the ancient Buddhist tradition. We thus believe that all creatures and ecosystems are to be respected, cared for and protected equally.
Through our efforts, we aim to foster the practice of wise and conscious generosity in order to achieve a happier and more sustainable world.
The quality of anything done in wisdom, which enables one to see reality and its true complexity.
Taken from Pāli, an ancient Indian language, this word refers to the virtue of generosity.

Born in Europe to act globally
Wisedāna Foundation was founded in 2023 by the Italian Buddhist Union (UBI), the national expression of the European Buddhist Union (EBU) in Italy. Our Foundation responds to the need for a nonreligious philanthropic body that fosters the universal principles and values found in Buddhism.
Our effort is possible also thanks to the initial resources granted by UBI, in terms of philosophical guidelines, institutional network and economic means. We may also rely on the valuable collaboration with Ashoka Italy, a strategic partner for us to envision the way to be systemic changemakers.
We share with these two institutions and many more a common goal – bringing a truly positive change into the world.
