TCV Bylakuppe welcomes hundreds of Tibetan refugee children in India every year. For the 730 students living there today, the school is an essential point of reference: a safe community far from Tibet where they can learn, build relationships and grow.
To continue its work, the school relies largely on donations. By giving today, you can help provide what children need in their daily lives: nutritious meals, books, notebooks, uniforms and shoes.
Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) was founded in 1960 at the request of the Dalai Lama, to welcome children who arrived in India after the Chinese occupation of Tibet, often after a painful separation from their families or with no one left to protect them. From its first center in Dharamsala, TCV has grown into a broad educational network across India: an essential point of reference for new generations of Tibetans in exile. Guided by the motto “others before self,” this network has supported children for decades, helping them grow first and foremost into good human beings.
TCV Bylakuppe, in South India, carries this mission forward in the largest Tibetan diaspora community. Today, the school welcomes 730 students, with 115 staff members working on campus every day. Across the TCV network, more than 60% of staff are former students: a sign of the strength of a model that offers not only education and protection during childhood, but also lasting bonds, opportunities to grow and cultural continuity for the Tibetan community.
This campaign directly supports TCV Bylakuppe. Like the whole TCV system, the school relies largely on international donors, especially former students and friends of the Tibetan cause. Their support helps keep the school’s educational work going, year after year.
Every day, the people who work at TCV Bylakuppe support hundreds of students as they grow. They know campus life closely and understand what can truly make a difference for these young people, who live without their families and find in the school a safe place to belong.
This daily experience shows where support is needed now: new books, notebooks, uniforms and shoes, along with regular additions of fruit and eggs to the children’s meals. These needs may be simple, but they are far from secondary.
In a school like this, which is also a home and a community, having what is needed every day matters deeply. Learning materials, clothing suited to campus life and more varied, complete meals respond to immediate needs. At the same time, they strengthen something deeper: the chance for children to grow in a place that protects them, supports them and keeps their connection to Tibetan culture alive.
Today, your donation can become something concrete: a new book to follow lessons, shoes to run and play in, a healthier and more complete meal.
For a child living at TCV Bylakuppe without their family, these are not small details. They help make the school a place where children can learn, grow and feel welcomed every day.
By supporting this campaign, you choose to stand beside the students of this school in a simple, direct way. You help protect their growth and make their path more stable, giving continuity to an initiative that welcomes them and keeps their connection to Tibetan culture alive.
You can complete your donation using the bank details provided below. Please remember to include the payment description so we can correctly link your donation to the initiative you wish to support.
